Five artists (three dancers, one singer and one musician) presented a Flamenco dance performance for the audience at the National Museum of Dance. This performance was an introduction to the art form and to the exhibit “100 Years of Flamenco in NY” that the Museum will curate in 2014. The Company’s work with the Museum has led them to working with the NYPL Performing Arts Library to support and present the exhibit for six months in 2014. Initial conversations with Sarah Hall Weaver of the Museum were held with the possibility of traveling the NYPL exhibit there. I believe Ms. Hall Weaver was convinced to obtain the exhibit after the very positive experience of the Company’s performance there. We were able to attract a new audience to this venue, which was important for their outreach into the community. This partnership with the Museum is totally new for us and for the art form, and will lead to the six-month exhibit, workshops and seminars during the 2014 season.

Artists involved: Leslie Roybal, Laura Peralta, Chayito, Jesus Muñoz, and Joaquin Gallegos.
