The Chrisopher K. Morgan Dance Company will present a variety of performances and workshops in the Utica area February 28-March 1, 2026. The culminating event will be Morgan’s ‘Native Intelligence/Innate Intelligence’, an evening length dance performance incorporating modern dance, hula, Hawaiian chant, and live music to examine home and belonging. Using the metaphor of lei making for the strands of our DNA, the work looks to weave together stories form varied identities as a way to build bridges that celebrate difference and respect unique individuality.
Utica Central School District will bring together the drama club students from Donavan Middle School, JFK Middle School and Proctor High School for a school presentation excerpting the work
Utica Public Library and the Kirkland Library will host lei making workshops and Hamilton College will host dance classes in both contemporary dance and hula. Utica Dance and Dancenter of Utica will cohost a contemporary dance class open to the public.
The six dancers of the company will be accompanied by electric cellist, Hawaiian chant and percussion.
